Life on a dairy is full of stress. Life parenting on a dairy is extraordinarily more so. If dairy producers and their families were to stop for too long and think about the tasks they have to complete that day, and the many unexpected challenges that may arise … well, it’s enough to make anyone’s head spin.
There was a good editorial in Dairy Star this week ― and a good reminder ― about recognizing when it’s time to call a relief milker, and a babysitter, and get away. From the silly things, like wearing slippers halfway into town, to the serious things, like falling asleep plowing the field, Sadie Frericks’ article reminds us that, of the hundreds of things dairy producers care for in a day, taking a little time to take care of yourself isn’t something that can be overlooked.
